BMGI Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Data

Benefits Management Group, Inc. (BMGI) recently disclosed a data breach affecting sensitive personal and health-related information. The company, based in Oak Brook, Illinois, provides comprehensive services in benefits management, including health and welfare, retirement plans, and trust administration. On November 26, 2024, BMGI became aware of suspicious activity within its computer systems, prompting an immediate investigation to understand the nature and extent of the breach.

The investigation revealed that on November 8, 2024, an unauthorized third party had accessed and potentially acquired sensitive data stored within BMGI’s systems. The compromised data included personal identifiable information (PII) such as names, Social Security numbers, addresses, and dates of birth.

The company is continuing its efforts to identify the full scope of the breach and determine which individuals were directly impacted.

As a result of the breach, BMGI has taken steps to notify affected individuals and provide them with information about the types of personal information that may have been exposed. The company is also reviewing its systems and security measures to prevent future incidents. A public notice was posted on BMGI’s website, which details the breach and the actions being taken to mitigate potential risks for affected parties.

While the breach has caused concern, BMGI is working to ensure that individuals impacted by the incident are informed and protected. The company is offering assistance to those whose personal information may have been exposed, but the full impact is still being assessed. The incident highlights the ongoing vulnerabilities faced by organizations managing sensitive data and the importance of robust security protocols.
