Cleveland Court Closes Due to Cyber Incident

Anne Arundel County, Maryland, is facing a cyber incident that has disrupted several public services. Despite the challenges, essential services such as 911 and 311 remain operational, ensuring that emergency and county service-related concerns are still being addressed. However, many other public services are down, and county officials have not disclosed which specific departments or services have been impacted by the cyberattack. While Annapolis is not experiencing interruptions, the overall disruption continues to affect various county operations.

The incident, which is being investigated as originating externally, has prompted county officials to work closely with the Office of Information Technology, public safety authorities, and cybersecurity experts. As part of the recovery effort, precautionary measures, including limiting internet access, have been implemented to protect the systems while efforts to assess and restore services are ongoing. However, it remains unclear how long the recovery process will take, with cybersecurity specialists suggesting that the disruption could extend over several days.

County officials are actively working with different departments to evaluate their operational needs during the service disruptions. They are ensuring that essential services continue to be provided as the investigation into the cyber incident continues. Although some services are still available, others have been temporarily suspended until a clearer understanding of the incident’s scope and impact can be determined.

The county has pledged to keep the public updated as new information becomes available. At present, the full extent of the cyber incident remains unclear, as authorities have not released specific details about the affected departments. The county’s response to the situation is focused on safeguarding critical infrastructure and restoring normal services as soon as it is safely possible.
