Wiz has countered a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Orca Security, alleging that Orca copied Wiz’s technologies due to its own lack of innovation. Wiz denies violating any of Orca’s patents and claims that Orca has infringed on its patents related to cloud security tools, attack path analysis, and AI risk detection. The New York-based startup also accuses Orca of misusing its confidential materials, which it allegedly obtained without authorization.
In response to Orca’s lawsuit, Wiz contends that Orca’s claims are unfounded and seeks to correct the record regarding its own innovations and Orca’s alleged misuse of its intellectual property. Wiz’s legal filing includes a detailed counterclaim asserting that Orca has improperly used Wiz’s inventions and proprietary information in its litigation.
Orca’s original lawsuit, filed nearly a year ago, accuses Wiz of infringing on patents related to virtual machines and cloud asset security. Wiz, however, challenges the validity of these patents and argues that Orca’s patents lack novelty, while also accusing Orca of using Wiz’s proprietary information to pursue its claims.
Wiz’s countersuit includes allegations that Orca copied its patented features and marketing content, such as infographics on the Log4Shell vulnerability. Wiz seeks an injunction against Orca to prevent further patent infringements and misuse of its confidential information, along with monetary damages and compensation for legal costs.
